Queen of Hearts

*Enter my first giveaway here! Open until October 31st 2012*

I'm busy at the moment trying to cram as much Japanese vocabulary into my head as I possibly can before my final speaking exam on Thursday, so sadly I'm still short on time. This unfortunately means no nail art until my next post, however, for those of you who like indie polishes I have a special one from Gloss 'n Sparkle to show you.

Overcast lighting (sorry guys, there was no sun this afternoon!)

This is 'Queen of Hearts'. For those of you who are familiar with the character from Alice in Wonderland (which I would hope is all of you), you will see why this is such a fitting name for this polish. The irregular shaped glitter reminds me of the chaos the Queen of Hearts leaves in her wake. In fact, I told Angela of Gloss 'n Sparkle this and she liked it so much that she included my quote on the 'Queen of Hearts' etsy listing (feeling just a little bit famous).

'Queen of Hearts' has a clear base filled with red, white and black matte glitters in all shapes and sizes, and red hearts. I wanted to stay true the Queen of Hearts' character, so I've layered it over China Glaze's 'No Name Yet' on my ring thingers and thumbs, and used Revlon's 'Rio Mango' on my other fingers. I'd love to try this over other colours sometime when I'm not trying to be so literal.

The consistency of 'Queen of Hearts' is perfect, not too gluggy or runny. Application was smooth and one coat supplies a generous amount of glitter. I did occasionally have to fish for the hearts, but since they're bigger than the other glitters they catch onto the brush easily. Anyone who hates fishing for glitters should really just avoid glitter polishes all together, let's face it, it's a trait common to pretty much all glitter polishes.

Bottle shot

Gloss 'n Sparkle polishes are available here. Since the introduction of the new bottles (which I'm quite liking by the way) Angela has dropped her prices from $10 to $9 a bottle due to the 1ml difference in bottle size. Personally I think she could easily continue to charge $10, her polishes are wonderful and how often do we actually finish a bottle of polish anyway? If you're interested in 'Queen of Hearts' or any other Gloss 'n Sparkle polishes I recommend not placing your order until Friday afternoon when Angela will be releasing more new colours (join the facebook page for swatch updates). Unfortunately shipping is still only available within Australia due to legal issues. Sorry international girls, I'll update you as soon as she manages to sort something out!
