October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (or BCAM). Yep, it's that one month of the year when products everywhere sport pink packaging. I have no issues with this, as most of you have figured out my favourite colour is pink! My Aunty was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago, and while she was strong enough to overcome it many women aren't so lucky. As such, I'm doing my little bit to raise awareness with my pink manicure for the start of October.
So as you might have figured, I couldn't pick just one shade of pink. This is my strange take on ombre nails using OPI's 'You're A Pisa Work', 'If You Moust You Moust', and 'Got A Date To-knight!', topped with 'Nothin Mousie Bout It' without the heart glitters. Unfortunately the weather was not on my side today, so all my photos were taken in rainy overcast lighting. It's probably a bit hard to see, but I've sponged the colours onto my index and ring fingers to create a smooth transition between the shades of pink.
So, there are several pink products being promoted for BCAM, but these are my two lemmings:
1. OPI's 'Pink Of Hearts 2012'
So I want this for obvious reasons. It's pink and it's nail polish. 'Nuff said. The twin pack contains 'I Think In Pink' which is OPI's signature BCAM polish as well as 'You Glitter Be Good To Me' which as you can guess is a glitter polish (Google for swatches). Both bottles are the full 15ml size. The pack is currently available from David Jones in Australia for AU$24.95. 100% of the profits go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). China Glaze have also released a collection of 12 polishes for BCAM too, but I haven't heard of these being released in Australia. Does anyone have any information on this?
While my current GHD is about 5 years old, it still works perfectly, so I'm not entirely sure whether I can justify making this purchase (as much as I want to!). The styler has shimmering pink plates and comes with a satin heat-resistant bag with cherry blossom embroidery detail. In additon to being pink, the cherry blossoms just make me want it even more considering my love of Japan as a country. The styler retails for AU$289 and is available from the GHD website with free shipping, or alternatively it's available in salons nationwide. $20 from this goes to the NBCF.
For a partial list of some of the pink products available for BCAM see the NBCF website (I say partial because I know of some other products such as Berlei bras that aren't listed there). Are you lemming after any pink products for BCAM?
Cute ombre manicure and a very nice idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's a little plainer than what I normally wear, but I'm really happy with how it turned out :)
