A First...

A quick blog post today guys (yeah yeah I know, when are my posts ever quick?). I've had friends pestering me for awhile to do their nails, but I've always declined because while it's one thing for me to do my own nails, it's a whole other thing to do someone else's. I tend to get nail polish all over my cuticles and didn't want to inflict that on someone else. This time though, I thought why not? So here you have it, my first attempt at painting someone else's nails:

Painting someone else's nails is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from painting your own. I guess it's something that gets better with practice, but the angles are completely different and suddenly you're dealing with a nail shape that's different from your own. I think for a first attempt though this isn't too bad. My clean up job could have been a little better though. You'll have to forgive the photo quality, I usually take my photos outdoors in natural light, but since I did this at night I didn't have that luxury.

My friend requested something 'pink, lavender and sparkly'. Here I've used 2 coats of China Glaze's 'Light As Air' followed by a coat of China Glaze's 'Fairy Dust'. I've then freehanded a pink moon at the base of the nail using OPI's 'If You Moust You Moust', followed by dots using a dotting tool in Essie's 'Blanc' and OPI's 'If You Moust You Moust'.

  1. This is a great job! I totally understand the whole different angle thing, luckily my friends don't mind a bit of polish on the cuticle - I do their nails at night too and I'm like 'Now go have a hot shower and scratch that polish off your cuticles!' hahah :D

    1. My friend didn't care either actually. I'm just a perfectionist haha.

  2. Great job and the design is very cute! I love to paint my fiends nails, I am very happy when they are satisfied with the end result!

    1. Thanks :) My friend got compliments at work today so I'd say it was a successful venture!
