Winter Hyacinth

Sorry it's been awhile since my last post, I'm right in the middle of university exams at the moment. Two down, two to go! My Snow White mani actually managed to last five days with only minimal tip wear which was convenient considering my lack of time. It must be a record of longevity as far as my manis are concerned! Since my brain is fried right now I'm not going to attempt any nail art. Not that I want to remind you of my past brain-dead efforts, but we know how they have turned out (hint: it looked like someone or something threw up on my nails). HOWEVER! This does give me a chance to catch up on my untried indies (there are currently 18 of them because I can't keep up with my spending habits). I used to feel like I was being lazy showing you guys an indie polish rather than nail art, but the feedback I've received from you has told me that you're quite happy to see indie polish reviews, so I'm not going to beat myself up over it anymore. With that being said, here's one of my newest indie acquisitions:

Partial sunlight - amazing holos!

This is Femme Fatale's 'Winter Hyacinth'. 'Winter Hyacinth' is a soft teal creme polish with white diamonds and hexes, as well as fuchsia and rose hexes both in metallic and holographic finishes. This polish is quite sheer (almost jelly-like), and while it is apparently opaque in three coats I can't stand VNL and didn't want to risk it so I've layered two coats over China Glaze's 'For Audrey'. I swatched three coats of 'Winter Hyacinth' on it's own on my nail wheel and it's very close in colour to what's on my nails, so I recommend 'For Audrey' as a good base colour. If you want to see 3 coats on it's own check out Bec's photos at Nail Gun XS.

Application of 'Winter Hyacinth' was lovely and smooth, and it's creme/jelly-like consistency meant no streaking. One coat was a little patchy but it evened out with two. It appears to be quite runny in the bottle but I had no issues with it pooling in my cuticles when applying it. I didn't need to fish for the glitters either, which is always a nice surprise :)

Femme Fatale Cosmetics is another great Australian indie brand. This was my first order from Sophie, and her customer service and shipping times were fantastic. I also purchased 'Sinister Calling' and 'Shimmering Snowcap' and I have to say I've absolutely fallen in love with all 3 of them. Currently Femme Fatale nail polish is only available to Australians due to strict shipping restrictions, but Sophie also sells cosmetics which are available internationally. Don't despair though, Femme Fatale nail polishes will be available internationally in December from Harlow & Co, as well as Shoppe Eclecticco (which will also stock other Aussie indie brands Gloss 'n Sparkle and Emily de Molly very shortly). All 3 brands also have facebook pages if you want to stay up to date with their collections.

    1. It's definitely a must-have. Miasma is sadly still sitting in my untrieds basket, but I've done some swatches on a nail wheel and it looks like it's going to be a stunner too!
